Nearly 250 young volunteers from across Germany gathered in Santa Susanna from September 28 to October 2 for the 2026 Fußballheldenbildungsreise. Together with the German Football Association (DFB), KOMM MIT offered the participants five varied days filled with professional development, fresh inspiration, and many memorable encounters.

‍

The focus of the educational trip was on the work these young volunteers do in their clubs. In a total of twelve study groups, the football heroes explored various topics related to youth football. Practical and theoretical sessions, workshops, and lectures provided numerous insights that the participantscould take back to their everyday club life.

They received special inspiration from, among others, Bundesliga referee Robert Hartmann, who spoke about communication, decision-making, and handling pressure. With Patrick Owomoyela , a former German national player was also on-site as a special guest. DFB Vice President Peter Frymuth also accompanied the educational trip and engaged in discussions with the young volunteers.

Another part of the program was dedicated to a topic beyond football: The DKMS provided information about stem cell donation and offered the participantsthe opportunity to register as potential donors directly on-site.

One of the highlights of the week was the group excursion to Barcelona. After visiting the Spotify Camp Nou the football heroes had time to explore the Catalan metropolis. On the traditional jersey day, they wore the colors of their home clubs throughout the city.

Community was also a priority outside of the learning sessions. Various group challenges, the Headis tournament, and open play sessions fostered competitive spirit, fun, and plenty of opportunities to connect beyond individual study groups.

After five intensive days, the football heroes headed back to their home clubs—carrying new ideas, new contacts, and a wealth of memories with them.

The 2026 Fußballheldenbildungsreise once again highlighted the importance of young volunteers to amateur football and what can be achieved when committed people come together. ALLTOGETHER.
