How we shape the future together

Looking back on 2024

KOMM MIT 2024

For a sustainable future in football

For KOMM MIT, 2024 was full of special experiences, significant progress and lasting changes. With the support of strong partnerships and through our continuous commitment, we have not only used soccer as a mouthpiece for intercultural exchange, but have also actively contributed to promoting equal opportunities and participation for children and young people.

With the sustainable cycle — participation in international tournament events, supporting intercultural youth meetings and creating financial opportunities for grassroots funding projects — KOMM MIT is pursuing two main goals:First, , which shapes our society, creates and makes visible a mutual understanding through the unifying element of football. This contributes to raising awareness of.Secondly, by organising international youth football tournaments, KOMM MIT makes it possible to carry out numerous projects on . As part of maintaining club life nationwide, KOMM MIT focuses in particular on supporting and securing volunteer work sustainably for the future. This also ensures an attractive range of sports and exercise for future generations.

In May, we not only celebrated the UN's first World Football Day, but also our 40th anniversary. Pentecost tournament — the anniversary tournament that began the story of KOMM MIT. With around 2,500 participants, this year's Pentecost tournament was a powerful signal for intercultural exchange and cooperation across borders. Over the past 40 years, more than 75,000 children and young people have experienced tolerance and teamwork as a result of our Pentecost tournament.

In June, we were awarded 1st place in the “Non-Profit Initiative NPO's” category as part of the German Awards for Sustainability Projects 2024. The project “From Basis for Grassroots — a sustainable financing project” was recognized for its outstanding approaches to promoting and supporting grassroots associations. This award encourages us to continue to initiate sustainable solutions for club life and social interaction through sport.

Once again this year, youth teams from all over the world came together in Spain to play soccer and exchange ideas. During the Copa Cataluna and Spain Trophy summer tournaments, we were able to welcome teams from over 20 nations, such as Japan, Argentina, Dubai and Morocco. This internationality at KOMM MIT events helps us achieve the mission of”Football for the Goals“initiative and the SDGs and to actively live the goal of a peaceful, inclusive society.

In 2024, KOMM MIT also had Promoting girls in soccer Back in focus. Through targeted collaborations and activities, we have made a significant contribution to promoting international exchange on a sporting and personal level in girls' soccer. Especially with the European Championships in your own country, there were numerous opportunities to bring funding and projects closer to a wider audience. Particularly noteworthy is the Draw for participation in the unique Girls Football Festival 2025 at the 'Junior Women's Day' in the fan zone in Munich during Euro 2024, in cooperation with our partner, the Bavarian National Football Association.

In August, we were able to host a multi-day junior and junior tournament for the third time in a row as part of the DFB German Beach Soccer Championship. Teams from Germany and Poland met for three unforgettable days in Warnemünde. The event was a great opportunity to introduce participants to other facets of soccer, strengthen their team spirit and give them valuable experiences. In addition to the sporting competition, the focus was also on joint activities such as swimming, camping and togetherness — perfect conditions for promoting cohesion within the teams.

In September, we took part in the 4th Federal Congress for Child and Youth Work in Potsdam for the first time and were represented in the “Park of Opportunities”. This event provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on the latest developments in the area of youth promotion and to gain new perspectives for future projects.

October was all about “volunteer work” in grassroots associations and their appreciation. First, together with the DFB Foundation “Egidius-Braun”, we implemented the “Egidius-Braun Academy” lasting several days at the Kaiserau sports school. This week, a small group of around 20 young people has gained insights into various areas of club life and received thanks and recognition in an appealing supporting program. Afterwards, it was time for a part of the KOMM MIT team and for over 230 volunteers from all over Germany heading to Spain, for Young Volunteering Campaign — Football Heroes Educational Trip of the DFB. KOMM MIT has not only been an official cooperation partner of the DFB in the area of youth promotion since 1993, but has also been a partner of the largest project for the promotion, motivation and recognition of voluntary work at a young age in grassroots associations. Association sports instructors from the 21 national soccer associations and the DFB Academy not only teach local volunteers the latest training methods for training at home with children and young people, but also encourage participants to remain active on a voluntary basis in the future.

October brought about a very special event with our ALLTOGETHER CUP. The Cup brought together participants from various social and cultural backgrounds and set an example of lived diversity, fairness and solidarity within associations and the world.

In November, the Deutsche Telekom is back on top of the Telekom. The charity event combined a love of sport with an exciting live event and the promotion of non-profit organizations in soccer. We have also benefited from this funding and, together with Deutsche Telekom, are sending a strong signal for promoting equal opportunities and integration in sport.

At the end of November, the German Sustainability Award was presented in Düsseldorf for the 17th time, and within this framework, we were delighted to receive a nomination in the “Sports Events” category — further proof that sustainable values and social responsibility are at the heart of our work.

Traditionally, at the end of the year, we have Youth Promotion Prize awarded — another measure of our continuous work in the area of youth promotion and social responsibility. We have been awarding this funding every year for more than 25 years. Three clubs will receive funding totalling around 20,000 euros for the coming tournament year, ensuring the participation of all players on a team.

Another highlight in December was our funding project”Association funding”, which we implement with our partner JAKO. More than 300 associations and our approximately 500 volunteers were delighted to receive sets of shirts and high-quality clothing. We thank JAKO for the continuous commitment and support that enables us to implement our projects at the grassroots level with even more enthusiasm and success.

We are particularly proud that, through our programs and collaborations, we were able to establish many new partnerships and networks this year, which will bring about positive changes for grassroots associations in the long term. Our special thanks go out to all partners, supporters and especially our Volunteers, without whose tireless efforts, these successes would not have been possible.

We are looking forward to the coming year and to continuing to make positive changes through soccer.
